This was shot in a hay loft inside a barn. It was a warm day to begin with, so it only seemed natural to put on some sweatshirts and climb up to the sweltering hay loft for a while. To be fair, there was a loading door just to the right, so things cooled off a short while after we started.
Lighting up here was tough. I wanted to use as much natural light as possible, but the loading door was small and did not provide enough light into the corners. I liked the look of just the natural light, but I had to use supplemental light in the area where the little girl is standing. The trick was to balance the light in a way that didn't make it too obvious that there was another light source in addition to the natural lighting provide by the open door.
